Page 2 of 2 Together with the rise in population, this has had a challenging impact on the environment. Additionally, portions of land are stripped bare and either turned into golf courses or hotel projects. Their operators more and more often resort to artificial means to improve their sites, thus, unfortunately, altering the natural face of the island. In the North and the West, where water is rationed in summer, the precious resources are limited during the day for the local population, but freely available day and night in the hotels. Much has been said and various programmes have been set up for the survival of the endangered nature. The nature groups presented in the following links have worked tirelessly to save species like the kestrel, the pink pigeon or the endemic boa on Round Island and been quite successful at it. Read about their work and how you can support it. We from Maurisun are generally supportive of any organisation that aims to protect nature. We would even like to go a step further and contribute through our work to a new way of living: where the protection of nature is not used to emphasize the nobleness of the enterprise, but rather represents a substantial part of the company policy. We cordially invite you, our guests, to come along and explore how you can help save the island’s natural resources by simply enjoying your vacation. |
